Use your Positive Autistic Identity
Traditional social skills training is about telling you what is expected and how to conform to what is expected.
In this workshop, Paul talks about Positive Autistic Identity.
Positive autistic identity is about being authentically and genuinely yourself while still being successful in social situations, rather than conforming to the expectations that accompany most social situations.
There is value in understanding what those around us expect in social situations, but what is missing is what to do if you can’t meet those generalised expectations.
There are some social expectations that are either extraordinarily uncomfortable, or we need to find another way of meeting that social expectation.
Your opinion counts!
