WEEK 1: Exploring Nature and Creativity
MONDAY 6TH JANUARY: SENSORY DAY AT THE CENTRE
Morning: Sandpit Sensory Play and Gardening. Engage in outdoor activities in the garden, including tending to plants, watering and learning how to nurture them.
Afternoon: Screening of Happy Feet in our cinema room and tactile activities in the sensory spaces.
TUESDAY 7TH JANUARY: SCAVENGER HUNT
Morning: Visit the new Rozelle Park with a Scavenger hunt adapted to your capacity. Stroll down the street with a scavenger hunt list and visit the new Rozelle Park, win prizes and enjoy the sprawling gardens and brand-new playgrounds.
Afternoon: Build an insect hotel or make a sun catcher. Use magnifying glasses to observe and learn about the insects in our community garden.
WEDNESDAY 8TH JANUARY: AUBURN BOTANIC GARDENS
Morning: Visit the beautiful Botanic Gardens in Auburn with an accessible playground, Australian wildlife and roaming peacocks.
Afternoon: Meet and befriend our very own chickens. Spend time with them, feeding them, giving water and collecting any eggs.
THURSDAY 9TH JANUARY: OUTDOOR MOVEMENT AND GAMES
Morning: Light stretching, and an adapted games circuit including beanbag toss, ball games, dancing, and bowling. Physical activity is tailored to each person’s ability. Engage at your own pace.
Afternoon: Interactive Board and Card Games set indoors including BINGO, UNO, Monopoly and Puzzles.
FRIDAY 10TH JANUARY: ART GALLERY OF NSW
Morning: Catch public transport to the Art gallery in the Botanic Gardens in the city. View free exhibitions and explore their new wing
Afternoon: Water pay and Water fight back at the centre to celebrate Friday!!. Don’t forget a change of clothes 🙂
Where: ZigZag Centre – 754 Darling Street, Rozelle
How to get there: Drop off and pickup services can be arranged with us, with notice. Other options include: public transport via bus or have your carer support you.
What to bring: A packed lunch or provisions to buy depending on the outing for the day, a change of clothes, bottle of water, hat, towel, companion card, communication items and any personalised support requirements including medications.
What we need: Signed service agreement and corresponding forms returned before start date. Ticked outing cost to be paid when booking dates.
What we promise: Comprehensive and personalised staff training on each individual before commencing services, sun safe practises, good times!
