INTERMEDIATE COURSE
Public Speaking for Kids
The intermediate Public Speaking Course for Kids is a series of weekly workshops for children who have already attended the beginners’ public speaking course.

These ongoing sessions provide an opportunity for children to put their skills into practise, with ongoing learning, development and feedback.

We’ll build on concepts previously learned, with activities and exercises designed to develop participants further.

A portion of the course will focus on improvisation. Students will have plenty of practise in standing up and talking about topics they select and topics randomly allocated to them to grow confidence in speaking off the cuff. For these short talks, they will have planning time in some cases. As always, we will take small steps to develop confidence so that students feel like they are in a safe space.

We’ll look at examples from talks—their own and others (historical/famous/lesser-known)—pinpointing elements that make a speech great.

Emphasis will be on practise, focusing on using the body and voice to communicate, engage and influence—life skills that are not limited to public speaking.

The emphasis on practise will also help participants to become more comfortable with speaking in front of others.
