Empowering Autistic Youth

inLearning New Skills

We employ a variety of Autism-friendly strategies to simplify the

development of social, conversational and

teamwork skills for autistic individuals.

Here’s how we support

young people in enhancing their skills in an

Autism-friendly manner:

Clearly define routines, rules, and social norms

to remove guesswork for learners.

Break down each new social skill into manageable steps,

demonstrate them, and provide a safe space for practice.

Facilitate opportunities for learners to apply their

new skills within the group or at home with a parent or supporter.

Explain the reasoning behind each step and

the value of learning and using the social skill.

Celebrate small achievements along the way

every helpful step is a win.

Use encouragement, humor and a sense of team spirit to

make learning enjoyable and to build additional social skills.
